Decisions deliberated in secret, believing that the situation was so complicated the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if the people could not understand it, it could not be released because of national security. Widening of the gap between the government and the people, each step disguised as a temporary emergency measure, true patriotic allegiance or real social purposes. All the crisies and reforms seemingly so occupy the majority of Americans [as it did the Germans] that they do not see the slow motion underneath, or government growing more remoter and powerful.

Just as Bonhoeffer was surrounded by lukewarm pastors and cultural "Christians" who supported Hitler [aka the government and its agenda] so too is the remnant in America. To most people in the established _______Church, security and wealth have become more important than God's precious Word and faithfulness to Him.
"...the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one." 1 John
